Anyone can do it
Cascade events are made possible by volunteers, through roles both big and small. And thanks to the diversity of volunteer roles available, anyone can contribute, without any previous experience.
You can participate and volunteer
Most day-of-event volunteer roles are broken up into shifts, typically 60-90 minutes long, meaning that you can usually participate in the event and volunteer on the same day!
Perks for you
Volunteers get volunteer points! Use your points when pre-registering for future CascadeOC events, and orienteer for free! (3 points = 1 free entry)
Benefit the club, benefit you!
Volunteers ensure that CascadeOC events run smoothly. When events run smoothly, then CascadeOC is able to add more events to the calendar!
Ready to sign up now? We’d love to have you! Sign up to volunteer for an upcoming event at the registration site.
The next level
Are you able to spend some time helping the club in between events? There are many tasks happening behind the scenes which can always use more volunteers to make light work.
If you’re interested in any of these roles, send mail to firstname.lastname@example.org, we’d love to have you join the team!
Keep others accountable to a schedule, solicit updates, layout and edit content.
COC has permanent courses located at many parks across Puget Sound. Occasionally markers are vandalized, removed due to construction, or otherwise in need of repair or replacement. Can you adopt a park or two? Even simply monitoring for issues is helpful!
Comfortable working in WordPress? You can help provide support for series directors and others posting items to the website. We’re also in search of a site administrator to help with updates and light edits to the custom theme (PHP/HTML).
COC gets requests from various groups (scouts, schools, etc) for one-off orienteering trainings. Do you have general availability and would you be willing to help with these requests? Typically this would involve finding a park where a permanent course already exists and providing roughly the same level of instruction as day-of-meet beginner instruction.
We’re always looking for more course designers. We typically hold a course design seminar every year or two, and we’re happy to pair you with an experienced designer if you’d like some support!
Epunch / Results
The e-punch team is always looking for new members. You’ll need to be tech savvy to learn the results software and processes and be able to commit to helping at events throughout the year. Sign up to be the finish line data entry volunteer to get a taste if you’re interested!
Have skills you think are applicable but not listed here? Let us know! We also have a few paid contract positions such as event director and land use coordinator listed on the about page.
